2025's Oscar films--go Paul!

Unlike the Oscar members who just released their list of 2025’s best films, I ignored F1 even though I appreciate the movie’s fine production values, superior editing, exciting race car footage, and the screenplay’s working in an opportunity for Brad Pitt to take his shirt off. F1’s nomination as best picture meant edging out other worthy projects—my own list preferred It Was Just an Accident, which at least earned the chance to win in the international film category. In the realm of snubs, I miss Joel Edgerton for his subtle, fine work in Train Dreams and Ariana Grande in the 100% ignored Wicked: For Good. For that matter, I stand as a seemingly lone representative who thinks Cynthia Erivo did a great job in the movie. Not everyone can sing with such emotion while covered in green make-up. Attention now turns to the predicted winners, and I continue rooting for Paul Anderson, the guy I met back in the

90s when he brought his first feature film to Reno and I helped him find locations. Go Paul!
